Steps to Peace with God

We all have a choice to make. We must either accept Him or reject Him, we can’t continue to play the middle ground, for the time is near (Revelation 1:3). He is the only One who can forgive your sins and fill the void in your life. To receive Him as your Savior, you must first understand these 4 simple steps.

Step 1
Recognize God’s Plan – Peace and Life

God loves you and wants you to experience His peace and life. The BIBLE says…

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”(John 3:16)

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”  (John 10:10)

Step 2
Realize Our Sin Problem – Separation

People choose to disobey God and go their own way. This results in separation from God. The BIBLE says…

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

Step 3
Respond to God’s Remedy – The Cross

God sent His Son to bridge the gap that separates us from Him. Christ did this by paying the penalty for our sins when He died on the cross and rose from the grave. The BIBLE says…

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy 2:5)

“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.” (1 Peter 3:18)

Step 4
Receive Christ – As Savior

You cross the bridge into God’s family when you prayerfully ask Christ to come into your life. The BIBLE says…

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”  (Revelation 3:20)

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” (John 1:12)

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

How to Receive Christ as Savior:
1. Admit your need for Him. (I am a sinner.)
2. Be willing to turn from your sins. (Repent.)
3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave.
4. Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit. (Receive Him as Lord and Savior.)

What to Pray:
“Father God, You have called me to Yourself in the name of Your Son Jesus (Yeshua). I realize that Jesus is the only Way, the Truth, and the Life; and is the only Mediator between You and man (John 14:6).

I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner. I believe that Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross, died for my sins, and rose again on the third day. I am truly sorry for the deeds which I have committed against You, and therefore, I am willing to repent (turn away from my sins). Have mercy on me, a sinner. Cleanse me, and forgive me of my sins as I forgive anyone who has ever sinned against me.

I truly desire to serve You, Lord Jesus. Starting from now, I pray that You would help me to hear Your still small voice. Lord, I desire to be led by Your Holy Spirit so I can faithfully follow You and obey all of Your commandments. I ask You for the strength to love You more than anything else so I won’t fall back into my old ways. I also ask You to bring genuine believers into my life who will encourage me to live for You and help me stay accountable.

Jesus, I am truly grateful for Your grace which has led me to repentance and has saved me from my sins. By the indwelling of Your Holy Spirit, I now have the power to overcome all sin which before so easily entangled me. Lord Jesus, please transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to You alone and not to myself.

Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life. With my heart, I believe that God the Father raised His Son Jesus from the dead. This very moment I acknowledge that Jesus Christ is my Savior and according to His Word, right now I am born again (John 3:3). Thank You, Jesus, for coming into my life and hearing my prayer today.

I ask all of this in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.”

God’s Assurance: His Word:
If you truly spoke this from your heart and confessed your sins to Him, “He has been faithful and just to forgive you of your sins.” (1 John 1:9) The BIBLE says…

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

“I will Never leave you, or forsake you”. (Hebrews 13:5-6)

After Receiving Christ, we are born into God’s family through the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. This is called regeneration, or the “new birth.” This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ.
