Pastor Tim explains that Jesus is our foundation for a life pleasing to God. It’s not only important to build a home on a strong foundation, it’s important to build a life on a solid foundation. Jesus is saying here in Mat 7:24 that two men built houses. One was wise, the other foolish, but you could not tell them apart by the outward structure until the storm came in Mat 7:25 and the foundation was tested. Just like in our lives, we will be tested with these storms of life. The rock the wise man builds upon is true righteousness found in Jesus Christ alone. The sand the foolish man builds upon is self-righteousness. What foundation will you build your life on?
The Wise and Foolish Builders:
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” (Mat 7:24-27)
