SBC – Unmasking Hypocrisy – Mat 23:13

Pastor Tim talks about the most significant issue facing God’s redemptive history and that is Hypocrisy in the Church which in the Greek simply means actor. Hypocrisy was so significant, that our Lord saves this for His last Sermon where He gives His most blistering words about false religious teachers. In Jesus’ last public sermon He calls those false spiritual leaders like the scribes and the Pharisees what they are and warns the people to stay away from them, because He knows that they must avoid the error if they’re to follow the truth and not lies. Maybe today you are following one of these false teachers that Jesus is warning about. Our prayer is that God’s Word and this message might help you better understand how to identify these false religious leaders in our World today. Listen as Tim explains how Jesus unmasks these religious phonies to reveal who they really are.

There’s an interesting statement in Luke 11:52. “Where it says Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering” False religious leaders lead people away from truth and from being saved. That’s what Jesus said about false teachers.

SBC – Get Real – Mat 23:1

Pastor Tim explains how God doesn’t want us to be hypocrites as the Pharisee’s were. They gave rules to live by that they couldn’t even live by. They were all for show. Even today, we as Christians need to live by the truth we teach and not be hypocrites like the Pharisee’s were. Tim gives several examples in this message about others who have doubted truth like Gandhi because of how some Christians have lived their lives. We need to get real and be genuine and pleasing to God and not just pretend to be someone were not…

SBC – Walking in Step with Jesus – Mat 17:24

Pastor Tim talks about understanding the Will and Word of God, so we can walk in step with Christ and speak with confidence when sharing the gospel with others. Tim explains this with Peter talking for Jesus regarding the Temple tax when he didn’t understand the political / kingdom distinction about God being the temple owner and Jesus as the Son being exempt. Jesus makes His point to Peter by allowing him to catch the right fish with the exact coin amount to pay the tax. Why does Jesus use this analogy, why does He pay the tax when He’s exempt and how can a fish have a coin?

SBC – Taking Steps of Faith – Mat 14:28

Pastor Tim talks about the importance of blindly stepping out in faith to meet the will of God. He gives us some great examples of others in the Bible that God helped through blind faith like David and the Giant, Elisha and the great army and Peter stepping on water to meet Jesus. Taking steps of faith does not come from ourselves, it comes from God.  Tim concludes with an awesome story of a blind track runner named Natalie who races blind, but is directed through the eyes of her Father in the stands.  We to need to see God through the eyes of faith like Natalie in order for us to walk and see clearly the plans God has prepared for each of us.

SBC – Help for our Burdens – Mat 11:28

Pastor Tim explains that only Jesus can take away the burden of sins. There are many things in this life too difficult for us to bear, and God never intended that we should try to carry the burdens on our own. He wants to take all of those burdens that weigh on our hearts and give us peace instead, Jesus tells us in Mat 11:28-30. When we are yoked up with God, we will find rest in Him because His grace is all we need (Acts 4:12). Tim concludes with a wonderful story about where the song “What a friend we have in Jesus” came from. Listen in…

“Thus for I did come laden with my sin: Nor could aught ease the grief that I was in, Till I came hither: what a place is this! Must here be the beginning of my bliss? Must here the burden fall from off my back? Must here the strings that bound it to me crack? Blessed Cross! Blessed Sepulcher! blessed rather be The Man that there was put to shame for me!”  -  John Bunyan (Pilgrims Progress)

SBC – Faith that Impresses Jesus – Mat 8:5

Pastor Tim explains we all have certain gifts we are blessed with in our life based on what God has provided here on Earth. However, is there anything left that we can do to really amaze and impress Jesus? The Bible indicates there is, God is amazed and glorified when people have great faith in Him. Tim explains this by 1 of the 7 centurions talked about in the new tesitment that came to a faith and was grounded in truth and by this faith, Jesus explains gentiles will be at the supper of the lamb.

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

SBC – Persistance in Prayer – Mat 7:7

Pastor Tim  talks about how we need to be persistent in prayer because when we make requests to God He answers our prayers (1 John 5:14-15). God answers prayers in the best way according to His will and sometimes that might be Yes, No or Wait awhile. Tim gives us 5 reasons in this message and explains why God might say No… (James 1:6-7, Psalm 66:18)

We can discover God’s will  through prayer. Therefore, we must be persistent and continue to seek the will God. Remember, If He is delaying the answer to your prayer. Without exception, there was always a good reason for what seemed like a delay.  (Mat 6:33)

SBC – Why Not Worry – Matthew 6:25

Pastor Tim explains why we should not worry when life throws us a curve ball. We all spend an awful lot of time in our lives worrying about grades in school, job interviews, approaching deadlines, our children and finances. But when it comes right down to it, worrying accomplishes absolutely nothing and it only distract us and our walk with God.  Our purpose is to fulfill His will and sometimes there is a reason He places us in these tough situations, but instead of worrying we need to pray for God to help us through these struggles. We should put Him first in everything we do and then we will see what joy and happiness He will bring us. God doesn’t want us to worry, He wants us to trust him above all things like His Word says in Mat 6:30, Proverbs 12:25, Philippians 4:6-7, 1 Peter 5:7.  Tim gives us 5 main reasons in this message that people worry about the most and why…

Just remember that Worry replaced by Prayer equals Trust.

SBC – A Decision Based on Fear – Mat 10:25

Pastor Dan talks about what Jesus said in Mat 10:25, that it’s OK to be afraid of hell to the point that it forces you to make a decision for Jesus or to deny Him. Jesus mentioned hell therefore it’s ok for us to use it to scare people to Jesus.

Something to remember today as you listen to this message on Hell. “I am the Lord and I change not” (Malachi 3:6)

SBC – Robbing Christ of Victory – Mat 28:11

Pastor Tim looks at the priests and Pharisees hiding the fact that Jesus was raised from the grave. He uses the real story of a marathon runner that was robbed of a title in the Boston marathon.  Just as this marathon runner was robbed of a victory, Jesus was robbed of the greatest victory that has ever been won  (Matthew 27:62-66). Jesus suffered and He died for our sins on the cross of Calvary and on the 3rd day He rose again. And immediately having achieved the greatest victory of all; He defeated sin, Satan, death & hell; He took from Satan the keys of death and hell; He rose victorious on the 3rd day over the grave, but immediately people tried to rob Him of the victory He had won.

Jesus Christ conquered death, and He made a way for you and me to defeat it as well. There is no hope of heaven, of eternal blessing and joy, without the resurrection of Christ. To deny the hope of eternal life is to oppose humanity’s innate desire for immortality. So seek to trust and obey Him and please Him in everything you do, and you will live with Him in His glory forever more.  (1 Corinthians 15:51-54).

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)
