SBC – The Bread of Life – Jeff & Summer Kirby Testimony – John 6:33

Pastor Tim compares the bread of the world with the bread of life for this Communion Sunday.  He explains, just as bread nourishes our physical bodies, it only fills us for a short time… However, the bread of life that Jesus compares himself to releases us from our history and frees us from the past and with it we will hunger no more (John 6:35). St. Gregory of Nyssa once said “The bread of life is the antidote for having eaten the forbidden fruit.”  To eat the bread of life is to seek a knowledge of and relationship with Christ that is bigger than the historical facts. It is a knowledge that does not simply inform, but one that transforms.  The bread of life nourishes us with new life, new hope, and new possibilities.

“Do not complain among yourselves,” Jesus tells us. “A feast of life has been prepared for you. The table is full, ready and waiting today…

Jeff and Summer Kirby share their touching testimony of faith in how God was able to find and save them from a life of drugs, alcohol and witchcraft and give them a new and everlasting life in Him. God is so faithful in fulfilling His promise when look to Him and eat of His bread of life.  Praise God for his patience and continued love for us… The video of their Testimony is also available in the video gallery under testimony of faith on Southland’s Website at http://www.southlandbible.org/videoGallery.htm

SBC – Satisfying Spiritual Thirst – John 7:37

Pastor Dan talks about the nature of spiritual “thirst” Jesus talks about in John 7:37 and how we can explain this “thirst” to a non-believer who says that he does not feel thirsty? For example, just like in a hot desert, a man or a woman does not always sense that he or she is thirsty. Many people have died because of their exhaustion without knowing they needed water. The same is true in spiritual things because many are not willing to admit that they are spiritually thirsty in the world. We were created for a personal relationship with God. Without that relationship, there will be a God sized “hole” in your soul that will never be satisfied with anything else then Jesus Christ. God can fill that hole today and satisfy that thirst and emptiness with the power of living water that is filled with the Holy Spirit and the power to transform souls the minute they believe. Jesus once said as he compared physical water with the water of spiritual life in John 4:13 “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst.” Are you still thirsty today?
