SBC – How to Thrive in the Household of God – 1Tim 1:1-11

Pastor Jason looks into 1 Timothy and provides examples on how we can effectively thrive in the Family of God. It first starts by an understanding of Truth from within God’s Word. Jason just married, uses his honeymoon experience to explain how others might maintain a correct course by using God’s Truth like a map.

In life outside of God’s Word, we will all face uncertainty at times and question whether what we hear is either right or wrong depending on the source. The Bible is like a map, without it, we will always question truth, but with it, we are guaranteed truth and with this truth God helps correct our course if needed.

When we look at Ephesians 5:1-7 it describes why we need to stay within the truth of God’s Word and the dangers of living outside it. “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them.”

SBC – Deity on Display – 2 Cor 4:1

Jason talks about the ad campaigns that stores use as deception to attract buyers to things of temporary value that might better our lives. He compares this to the ad campaigns that God uses through the work of His faithful believers. It’s important to remember, when we choose to follow God, He expects us as Christians to live with higher standards because as believers we become like billboards of Jesus Christ and advertisements of His Mercy and Grace in Christ Alone.

“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.” Ephesians 5:1

SBC – Preperation through Purification – 1 Peter 2:5

Jason talks about what Peter is saying about the old testament priesthood and how it relates to the royal priesthood today with Christ as our only high priest. He explains, it is important to have clean hands and to maintain a clean heart as believers (Proverbs 4:23-27, Psalm 24:4) because we are given the responsibility to deliver the message, the salvation of people all over the World is partly dependent upon us since we are God’s representatives as part of his royal priesthood, delivering God’s Word so to save lost sinners. That’s part of God’s priesthood today as Believers in Christ.

“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”  (Ephesians 2:19-22)
