SBC – Choose Everlasting Life – Mark 9:43

Pastor Tim talks about the most important choice we can all make in this lifetime and that is Everlasting Life.  He explains this and the reality of Hell and what extreme measure we should take to avoid going there. Even though there are many difficulties and choices we may face in this life, there is nothing that should stop us from choosing Eternal Life. We all have an important choice to make between Heaven or Hell. The Bible says that God is not willing that any would perish, but that all would come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9, Luke 5:32). What choice will you make while He is near (Isaiah 55:6).

The Bible is clear about life after Death and the Judgement to come for all. “For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.” (Hebrews 10:26-31) “And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27) “For the living know that they shall die; but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5) “But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him!” (Luke 12:5) “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

SBC – A Decision Based on Fear – Mat 10:25

Pastor Dan talks about what Jesus said in Mat 10:25, that it’s OK to be afraid of hell to the point that it forces you to make a decision for Jesus or to deny Him. Jesus mentioned hell therefore it’s ok for us to use it to scare people to Jesus.

Something to remember today as you listen to this message on Hell. “I am the Lord and I change not” (Malachi 3:6)

SBC – Bible Interpretation – Pt1

Pastor Tim starts the Bible Study series on how to interpret scripture when studying the Bible.  Does Hell exist and is there really such a place? This topic along with many others are discussed in this message.

SBC – How to be Righteous in God’s Eyes – Romans 10:1

Pastor Tim talks about living in a World that is drowning in a sea of our own sin and how that sin is drawing us ever closer to an eternity separated from God in Hell, but God sent us a Savior for no other reason that we could not save ourselves and that was the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul keeps reminding us in Romans that righteousness is possible through the Law, but only if a person could keep every precept perfectly and not break even the smallest. Because to break one means a person is guilty of the whole thing,  (James 2:10). Of course, even if a person were able to perfectly keep the Law, he would still have to deal with the problem of his sinful nature. Man isn’t a sinner because he sins, man sins because he is a sinner, (Romans 3:23, Gal 3:22). We are born in sin, we just prove the reality of our sinful nature by the things we do. Tim explains that when he got caught shoplifting and told the judge he was a good guy and had never murdered anyone, never raped any girls and that those good things should balance out his first shoplifting conviction. Just like an earthly judge must be a just judge in order to punish the guilty, so must our mighty God be a righteous and just judge and He will punish all sinners. God hates sin and His Law says that “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). This means that all sin must be punished by death. But because of His love for us, God sent His Son to die in our place. God put the sins of the world on Jesus and punished Him as though He was guilty (1 Cor 15:1-4). The Bible says that if anyone will repent and believe in Jesus then they will be forgiven (Luke 5:32-34). However, if anyone refuses to accept God’s free offer of forgiveness then they will have to take their own punishment in hell (John 3:36, Rev 16:9-10). Steve’s weekly cartoon below paints us a perfect picture of what people are constantly telling us about hell, that it’s a myth… But we need to quit listening to the sinfulness and flesh of Man and listen to what God’s Word tells about us about the reality of hell (Psalm 9:17, Proverbs 15:24, 2 Peter 2:4, Luke 12:5, Rev 1:18, Rev 20:14, etc…) so you don’t end up in a place that you once thought was a myth. Which way will you choose?

May we learn the truth that God only has one plan of salvation. It is not a Jewish plan, nor any other religious plan. If we expect to miss the condemnation of Hell and to go to Heaven when we depart from this world, then we must come to God on His terms. We must reject every work of the flesh and every attempt to get there on our own (2 Peter 1:10).

“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

SBC – Is God Fair to Judge All – Romans 2:12

Is it fair for God to judge people and send them to hell if they’ve never heard the gospel? This is probably the strongest statement from the hand of Paul that unbelievers ask Christians more often than any other. Pastor Tim explains this question and also God’s case against mankind.

Just think of how accurately God will judge every unbeliever! Each day of every life will be analyzed in minute detail. The hidden thoughts and motives of each hour will be replayed, along with all the actions and attitudes (Romans 2:16). The words spoken in secret will be made public, the intentions of the heart displayed for all to see. They will have no attorney to whom they may appeal, no loopholes by which they can escape. Nothing but bare, indisputable facts. The balance of justice will be so accurate that the pornographer will wish he had never published such material, the thief will wish he had earned an honest living, and the adulterer will regret that he lived an immoral life. Every court case ever tried on earth will be reopened: every action and motive will be meticulously inspected and just retribution meted out. (Ecclesiastes 3:17)

Examine your yourself today by taking the Good Person Test and see how God sees you according to His standard. (Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23). Those who believe in Christ experience mercy from the law; those who do not (either because they have never heard of Him or because they reject what they know of Him) will receive justice. Either way, God is glorified. (John 3:36)

“For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 2:10)
