SBC – What if Jesus didn’t Rise? – 1 Cor 15:13

Pastor Tim talks about different world events and how they could have changed the world as we know it, if they would have happened differently. He compares these significant events with the resurrection of Christ, so what if Jesus didn’t rise from the dead? Listen in as Tim describes Jesus’ great claim while living here and the importance of the resurrection and how this event not only split Time, but proved that God has the power to raise believers from the dead. It guarantees that those who believe in Christ will not remain dead, but will be resurrected unto eternal life. That is our blessed hope! Such hope and assurance results in a great song of triumph as Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:55; “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”

“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” John 14:6. In the Gospel of John 14:8-11 Philip also said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.”

SBC – Welcome for the Messiah – Mat 21:1

Pastor Tim talks about 3 important topics for Palm Sunday as he looks at a Welcome for the Messiah.

1) Demonstration He was the Messiah
. Why did Jesus come publicly into Jerusalem?
. What were the three miracles related to the Donkey He picked to ride into Jerusalem    Luke 19:30, Zec 9:9?

2)  Declaration of the Multitude
. Why were thousands of people lined up in the streets of Jerusalem, did they know Jesus was coming?
. Did they recognize Him as a King and the Messiah as He rode into town?
. What was the people’s expectation and was it the same as Jesus’?

3) Denunciation of the Messiah
. Now that Jesus has cleansed His house He begins healing others, what was the response of the chief priests and scribes to this?
. Why was it mainly just the Children who realized that there was something genuine about the Messiah?

“After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands.” Rev 7:9

SBC – The Resurrection on Trial – Easter 2011

Pastor Tim looks at the evidence and proof provided in God’s Word for the Resurrected Christ.  He looks at all the blood evidence that was provided in the OJ Simpson case that experts say should have been enough to convict him of the crime, but it didn’t…  With Christ and the Resurrection we have more evidence than ever recorded in God’s Word that He was Christ and rose again on the 3rd day, but the jury is still out on this with many even today, why? With this question, Tim puts the Resurrection of Christ on Trial to help provide others with proof by investigating the evidence provided in the Word of God.

Tim first looks at the Evidence of Death

  • He was arrested and taken to the high priests – Mat 26:67
  • Christ was tortured, scruged and spit upon him – John 19:1-2
  • They thrust a crown of thrones into head – Mat 27:27-31
  • Jesus was to carry His own cross to Calvary – John 19:17-18
  • Jesus was nailed to the cross and spit upon – Psalms 22:14-15
  • Romans pierce Jesus’ side with a spear which brought a sudden flow of blood and water. Why didn’t they just break His legs like the thief’s that were next to Him? – John 19:31-34
  • The Roman soldiers proclaim Jesus dead and grant Joseph the body – Mark 16:44

At this point was Jesus just pretending to be dead or was he really dead? Tim presents the Evidence of His death and the Resurrection of Christ on the 3rd day.

  • Jesus predicted He would die and rise again on the 3rd day with great detail many years prior to  His crucifixion. Mat 20:17-19.
  • On the 3rd day the Roman seal is broken, the 2-Ton stone is rolled back and the tomb where Jesus once lay now just contained His linen clothes and no body. John 20:1-3
  • The Roman guards directed by Pilate were given strict orders to guard the tomb and a Roman seal was put upon it which meant death to whoever even touch it.  How could He have disappeared under such a secured tomb?
  • There were many witnesses that saw the resurrected Christ even unbelievers like the Apostle Paul. Luke 24:31-35, John 20:19-20, John 20:26-28, Luke 24:33-36, John 21:1-2 & 1 Corinthians 9:1

Tim concludes by looking at the Effects of the Resurrected Christ.

  • Many of his disciples who saw Jesus and believed in Him died of terrible deaths in the name of Christ.
  • Many lives have been transformed over the years because of the resurrection of Christ.

Based on the evidence from God’s Word, I think one might conclude that Christ was who He said He was (John 14:6) and that He did rise again to provide eternal life to those who will believe upon Him and except His free gift of Grace. Christ paid a big price on the cross for our sinful nature and rose again on the 3rd day to provide life to those who will pick up their cross and follow Him. His Salvation is for all and He loves all that none should parish (2 Peter 3:9). He provides this gift of Salvation for free without any work required, how beautiful is that? Jesus says that “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by Works, so that no one can boast.” Eph 2:8-9. Give Christ a chance to transform and change your life today, let Him take the heavy burdens from you and grant you everlasting life (Romans 10:9).

SBC – Jesus, the Perfect Donor for the World’s Greatest Need – Easter Message

Pastor Bruce Miles returns back to Rocky Mountain Bible Church with an amazing story of how God provided a cure (i.e. Liver Transplant) for his spiritual disease. Listen in as Pastor Bruce shares a wonderful Easter parable of the experience he endured while battling his illness and how it relates to the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Christ. Maybe you have or know someone with a similar need today, which only Christ Alone can fill. Our prayer is that this message can provide the hope and peace to comfort your needs.

“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:6-10

You can watch the news story that was done on Bruce and Michael here as the Liver Transplant was split between both to live. http://www.9news.com/news/local/article/195108/222/Two-miracles-ages-and-miles-apart

SBC – Robbing Christ of Victory – Mat 28:11

Pastor Tim looks at the priests and Pharisees hiding the fact that Jesus was raised from the grave. He uses the real story of a marathon runner that was robbed of a title in the Boston marathon.  Just as this marathon runner was robbed of a victory, Jesus was robbed of the greatest victory that has ever been won  (Matthew 27:62-66). Jesus suffered and He died for our sins on the cross of Calvary and on the 3rd day He rose again. And immediately having achieved the greatest victory of all; He defeated sin, Satan, death & hell; He took from Satan the keys of death and hell; He rose victorious on the 3rd day over the grave, but immediately people tried to rob Him of the victory He had won.

Jesus Christ conquered death, and He made a way for you and me to defeat it as well. There is no hope of heaven, of eternal blessing and joy, without the resurrection of Christ. To deny the hope of eternal life is to oppose humanity’s innate desire for immortality. So seek to trust and obey Him and please Him in everything you do, and you will live with Him in His glory forever more.  (1 Corinthians 15:51-54).

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)
