Pastor Tim talks about how Children always try to please their parents. What happens if parents take their children down a path that is not of the Lord?
Tim continues discussing Samuel’s parents Elkanah and Hannah. Just like before with previous generations, we see Polygamy and the problems that occur from it as the evil jealousy continues here with Elkanah and his 2 wives Hannah and Peninnah. Again, we should remember that polygamy was never commanded of God nor did God tolerate it and we see this because of the continual sin that occurred because of it, just like in other Old Testament families. Why did Elkanah favor his wife Hannah over Peninnah, like at the feast where he gives Hannah the 16oz prime rib and Penninah the 8oz serving? Why did Peninnah try to make Hannah’s life miserable? When Hannah prayed to God, what did she promise Him if He would provide her a son? After Hannah gave birth to Samuel, did she keep her promise with God and did Elkanah support it? Tim, discusses all these important topics with Samuel’s parents.
Tim, finishes up the series on families of the Bible by talking about the importance of raising Godly offspring and passing on godly values from generation to generation since children are the greatest tool for evangelism. Parents have a crucial role in leaving a godly legacy for future generations. It’s at home that children see manhood and womanhood modeled, moral values taught and placed into the hearts of their children and the reality of a relationship with Jesus Christ modeled.
