Pastor Tim talks about raising children in a wicked generation. He gives a biblical illustration about Noah and how his son’s wives left their families to build and sail on the ark. He explained how we need to be examples as parents that God and Church are important to us.
A good Biblical example to follow in your home for parents trying to raise Godly children is by following the O.A.T.S method; Ownership – Where God owns all things and we should give Him complete ownership of everything (Genesis 1:1, Exodus 19:5, Deuteronomy 10:14, Psalm 50:10-12, 2 Corinthians 1:22, Hebrews 1:2). Authority – Parents are under God’s authority (Matthew 17:5, Col 3:17, Acts 5:29, Acts 5:32), just like children are under their parents authority until marriage (Hebrews 13:17, Col 3:20). Trust – Parents are to trust God’s authority (Philippians 1:6, Micah 6:8, Proverbs 3:5), just like children should trust their parents as authority (Exodus 20:12). Submission – We are to submit to God and our spouse (Ephesians 5:21-24,25-26,31, 1 Peter 3:7, James 4:7), just like our children should submit to their parents (Ephesians 6:1). Children were to see God’s Word throughout the house in their parents’ absence; and they were to hear it when their parents opened their mouths. The law of God was to be passed on so that godliness and righteousness could move from one generation to the next (Ephesians 6:1-4). Sadly, this is missing in today’s generation of children.
Interesting Statistic on the importance of a Father’s role as the spiritual leader in his Home; When children are believers with unsaved parents, there is only a 3% chance that the parents will be saved. If the Mother’s a believer and plays the spiritual leader in the home versus the father, there is only a 15% chance that the rest of the family will be saved. However, if the Father is saved and plays the spiritual headship of his home, there is a 94% chance that the rest of the family will come to know and trust the Lord as Savior.
