SBC The Christian’s New Cloths Colossians 3:12-16

Pastor Tim covers a passage that shows God chooses us and yet allows us to choose Him. Tim also covers how we as Christians should behave toward others after we are saved, our Christian cloths. The Tim explains Colossians 3:16;

Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Pastor Tim explains the difference between Psalms, Hymns, and songs. We are to use all to praise and worship God as long as the words we use are Biblical. Listen as Tim expounds on these verses.

SBC Warring Against The Old Nature Colossians 3:5

Pastor Tim explains that after we are born-again we should have a new desire and a new perspective on the things of the world. We should want to start over and let the old nature die and refuse to desire sin that we once lived in. Pastor Tim explains the damage caused by fornication, anger, filthy language, malice and other things Paul talks about in this passage. Col 3:5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

SBC A Proper Focus Colossians 3:1

Col 3:1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.
Col 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Pastor Tim explains that when we are saved we should see our focus start changing from the things of the earth and the flesh to things of God. Before we were saved we had our hearts set on material things we wanted and after salvation we can fall back into that focus. Once in a while we need to get our eyes back on Jesus and refocus to what God’s desire is. Listen as Pastor Tm expounds on this focus.
Mat 6:19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;
Mat 6:20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

SBC Counterfeit Christianity Colossians 2:18

Some things never change. We deal with some of the things today that Apostle Paul had to deal with in the church. The church at Colossi had to deal with the teaching that you could pray to angels or dead people. You also had people who wanted others to think they were more spiritual by abusing their own bodies to prove their spirituality. Listen as pastor Tim continues his series in the book of Colossians.

SBC Christ’s Superiority to the Law Colossians 2:13-18

The Romans would post on the cross of criminals what their rap sheet was, which were the crimes they committed. The only thing they could accuse Him of was being King of the Jews. Do you know that God has a rap sheet on us? When we accept Jesus as our Savior, God nails our rap sheet to the cross to be erased and remembered no more. Listen as Pastor Tim goes deeper into this important passage.

SBC Christ VS Philosophy Colossians 2:8

The heresy of Gnosticism was coming into churches and Paul warned of the danger of this philosophy. The Gnostics taught that Jesus was not bodily resurrected. Paul warns them not to buy into the Philosophy of the time that Jesus was less than God. Col 2:9  For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. Listen as Pastor Tim preaches from Colossians chapter 2.

SBC Jesus is Reliable Matt Moore

In Matthew chapter 11 we see that John the Baptist is puzzled. We read- Mat 11:2 Now when John heard in prison about the deeds Christ had done, he sent his disciples to ask a question:
Mat 11:3 “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?” John had declared Jesus to be the Lamb of God. If Jesus was the promised Messiah, why was John in prison- why weren’t things working out as John had anticipated? Pastor Matt explains our plans, our circumstances, our emotions have no bearing on the reliability of Jesus. Just like John we may not understand what’s happening or why something is happening but that doesn’t change the character of God or the plans he has for us.
