Our Purpose and Value

Our Purpose:

The purpose of Southland Bible Church is to glorify God by experiencing the grace and truth of Christ in ways that transform our lives, our families and our world. (John 1:14)

Our Values:

Free Grace:
We value grace, God’s free gift of unconditional love and acceptance, as the means of salvation, the motivation for the Christian life and the model for our relationships with others. (Ephesians 2:4-10; 2 Corinthians 9:8-9; 1 Peter 4:10)

Biblical Teaching:
We value systematic biblical teaching that penetrates our hearts, renews our minds and changes our lives. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Colossians 3:16-17)

Our Community:
We value authentic community characterized by unconditional acceptance, vulnerable sharing, mutual care, accountability and spiritual growth. (Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:23-25; Ephesians 4:1-4; 1 John 4:7-11)

Christ-centered Families:
We value Christ-centered families and the partnership we share with parents in helping children and students grow spiritually in the Lord. (Genesis 2:21-25; Ephesians 5:22-33; I Peter 3:1-7; Deuteronomy 6:6-9; Ephesians 6:1-4)

Genuine Worship:
We value genuine worship that proclaims the glory of God and rejoice with His presence in our lives. (John 4:22-25; Psalm 100:1-5)

Compassionate Outreach:
We value compassionate outreach that expresses the love, life and message of Christ to our neighbors here and around the world. (2 Corinthians 9:8-11; 1Timothy 6:17-19; Matt 28:18-20; Acts 1:8)

Our Vision:

Southland’s vision is to reflect God’s grace in a captivating way:
With one another. We want to cultivate a culture where all are welcomed, connected and engaged in the process of experiencing and growing in God’s grace. We will do this by teaching about grace in relationships, by effective shepherding and studying God’s Word.

To our families. We want to cultivate grace-based family relationships rooted in biblical values. We do this by creating ministries designed to enrich marriages, youth and by equipping parents to encourage a heart for God in their children.

To our community. We want to create relationships with our “neighbors” that express the grace and the love of Christ. We do this by developing an increased awareness of the needs of those around us and by meeting those needs in practical and creative ways.
